The film "Murina" won the 2022 MIOB New Vision Award

THIS YEAR THE MIOB NEW VISION AWARD WAS ASSIGNED TO THE DEBUT FEATURE "MURINA" BY THE CROATIAN DIRECTOR ANTONETA ALAMAT KUSIJANOVIĆ. THE AWARD IS AIMED AT RECOGNIZING EUROPEAN FILMS CREATED BY PROMISING NEW DIRECTORS DEMONSTRATING EXCEPTIONAL CINEMATOGRAPHIC APPROACH AND ARTISTIC HANDWRITING THAT DESERVE WIDER INTERNATIONAL ATTENTION.

Antoneta Alamat Kusijanović will receive 3000 euro award as well as a chance to screen the film at the festivals of MIOB network members and a package of subtitles in six festival languages of the network - French, German, Italian, Lithuanian, Spanish and Serbian.

The title was voted upon by the 7 festivals comprising the MIOB (Moving Images - Open Boarders) network and was chosen, among other things, for “expressing a subtle but strong attitude about misogyny and personal choices”, as said in the statement by the directors of the Crossing Europe Festival from Linz, Sabine Gebetsroither and Katharina Riedler.

The MIOB network was officially formed and presented to the public for the first time during the 25th edition of the Palić Festival in 2018, after which it developed intensively. The network aims to highlight European films with an outstanding cinematic approach and artistic handwriting, which deserves a wider international recognition. Furthermore MIOB wants to support promising directors, a new generation of filmmakers in Europe and their first/second films.

The network currently consists of seven festivals dedicated to European cinema - Crossing Europe Film Festival Linz (Austria), European Film Forum Scanorama (Lithuania), Les Arcs Film Festival (France), Palić European Film Festival (Serbia), Trieste Film Festival (Italy), Festival de Sevilla (Spain), Filmfestival Cottbus (German), which annually gather over 250,000 film programs’ viewers, as well as several thousand artists and film professionals who participate in the realization of the festivals.
