International Guest Festival Partnerships : Bishkek International Film Festival
As part of a new exchange programme between the MIOB network and international film festivals, we are proud to announce our partnership with the Bishkek International Film Festival (Kyrgyzstan).
MIOB will develop structured partnerships with international film festivals outside the EU, combining the circulation of European works with a broader cultural mission. These partnerships aim to share core European values — artistic freedom, democratic culture, gender equality, curatorial independence and support for emerging talent — with audiences and industry professionals in regions where access to European cinema remains limited. Rather than one-directional outreach, they are conceived as genuine exchanges that benefit all parties involved.
We were in Bishkek, discovering Central Asian cinema, engaging in discussions around European talent, and preparing our first collaboration, set to launch in 2027.
During this edition of BIFF, two representatives of MIOB were members of official juries: Guoda on the International Competition jury, and Miroslav on the Central Asia Competition jury.
The Bishkek International Film Festival is the first professional platform in Central Asia dedicated to the development of the film industry. It brings together filmmakers from across the region, offering opportunities to present projects and exchange professional experience.
